Chyann Ebert
MMC Contractors

What made you interested in this industry?

My dad was a Carpenter before becoming a Farmer. I would get a real sense of pride helping andcompleting small projects with him. It’s because of that experience, that I knew I wanted to do some kind of construction when I grew up. I took a construction course in High School which led me to my first internship as a Drywall Finisher with Hi-Tech Interiors in Manhattan. I enjoyed the work, but knew it was not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. While at K-State, I joined and became active in the MCAA Club. I had the privilege of attending the MCAA National Convention in Maui where I met Mike Kotubey. Mike offered me an Internship and I knew that this was my opportunity for something new and challenging. Two years and two projects later, I am Full-time employee of MMC Contractors.

What Education, Training & Experience do you have?

I graduated from Kansas State University with a Degree in Construction Science and Management. My internships included installing ceiling grid and tile for Hi-Tech Interiors as well as two Internships with MMC Contractors where I worked on the Hollywood Casino and the Fort Riley Hospital Replacement Project.

What is your greatest accomplishment to date?

Graduating from college and earning a Degree in Construction Science and Management while being heavily involved in other organizations on campus.

Where is your favorite place to dine in Kansas City?

P.F. Changs, Cheesecake Factory and Oklahoma Joes.

What is one thing we don’t know about you?

I played the trumpet in the Kansas State Marching Band for five years including three Bowl Games; (Pinstripe Bowl, Cotton Bowl and Fiesta Bowl).
