Celebrating the First Graduates of MCAKC’s IMPACT Leadership Academy

The Mechanical Contractors Association of Kansas City (MCAKC) is proud to celebrate the first class of graduates from our IMPACT Leadership Academy. Over a rigorous two-year journey, this group of emerging industry leaders completed 17 in-depth educational seminars plus a meaningful volunteer service event accumulating 88 hours of training and community engagement. Through their dedication, they exemplify the values of IMPACT: Inspire, Mentorship, Passion, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Teamwork.

A Journey of Growth, Learning & Service

Launched in January 2023, the IMPACT Leadership Academy was created to invest in high-potential professionals across MCAKC's member companies. The program was intentionally selective, offering one seat per signatory contractor or associate member firm to participants with at least 7–10 years of industry experience, individuals whom member companies believe are poised for senior leadership roles.

Over 24 months, our cohort engaged in 17 seminars covering essential leadership competencies and industry-relevant skills including:

  • Communication

  • Leadership assessments (e.g., Hogan's Assessment, StrengthsFinder)

  • Thought Leader panel discussions with leaders from the mechanical industry nationwide

  • Servant leadership

  • Tough conversations and business ethics

  • Situational leadership

  • Mental health awareness for leaders

  • Succession planning

  • Company culture

  • Building and leading teams

  • Coaching skills

  • Executive presence

Additionally, the group came together for a day of service volunteering at Harvesters Community Food Network reinforcing MCAKC's commitment to community support and servant leadership.

With representation from 15 member companies, this inaugural cohort reflects the diversity of our membership and underscores our commitment to building a strong leadership pipeline across the mechanical contracting industry.

As the first class of IMPACT Leadership Academy graduates celebrate their accomplishment, MCAKC remains committed to continuing and expanding our leadership development programs. We believe building a bench of capable, ethical, and empathetic leaders is essential to the long-term success of our member company and the mechanical contracting industry as a whole.

Congratulations to our Graduates and Thank You to Everyone Who Supported Them

To the inaugural group of IMPACT graduates: thank you for investing your time, energy, and commitment. Your dedication to growth, leadership, and service embodies the spirit of MCAKC and sets a strong precedent for those who follow. We can't wait to see the IMPACT you'll make in your companies, the industry, and beyond.
