In June & July, the MCA of Kansas City partnered with Pipefitters Local Union 533 Training Center & Plumber's Local Union 8 Training Center to host our first Mechanical Trades Day Camp for high school and middle school students. These camps were designed to provide hands on experience and build interest in careers in the mechanical trades.

The students learned about the numerous career opportunities in both construction and service. Apprentices and retired training center instructors donated their time to teach the kids how to solder and braze. Bill Nieznajko, Matt Harris, Jim Dahlin, Kelly Turner, and Chris Mcghee organized these two events, created the activities, gave tours, and facilitated education that provided the students with information about all the career opportunities available to them in this industry. Mindy Rocha organized the marketing and communication to select students for the event.

The students ended the day with an industrial pipe and wood shelf as well as copper numbers they soldered representing their graduation year.
