Correspondence Do’s and Don’ts  - Lessons for Effective Communication (2 hr)There are many different forms of communication and several different types of media that can be used. This session looks at when written communication is more effective than oral communication, and strategies for proper correspondence etiquette will be discussed. Several real-world examples will be analyzed, and troublesome phrases will be examined. Instructors
 
Managing Different Generations (2 hr)
Most contracting firms have a workforce with a wide variety of ages of their employees. This session looks at the differences between Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and now Generation Z, and how that can affect management decisions to make a more efficient and motivated staff.
 
Target Audience: New, Experienced, or Aspiring Foreman. General Foreman, Superintendents, and other Field Leaders or Managers.

Instructor
Dr. Blake Wentz holds degrees in finance and engineering from the University of Nebraska. He previously managed Wentz Plumbing and Heating, overseeing large-scale projects. After 15 years at Milwaukee School of Engineering, he led the Construction Management Program and later became Dean at California State University, Chico. Blake's achievements include winning national titles and serving as National Educator of the Year for the MCAA. He currently leads the Associated Schools of Construction, an international organization, and co-authored the book "Construction Law for Design Professionals, Construction Managers and Contractors."

Cancellations for all MCAKC events must be received prior to the event by email to learn@mcakc.org or by phone at 913-948-9200. Cancellations received after this time will be assessed a $100 cancellation fee.

“No Shows” will be assessed a fee (see below) and invoiced accordingly.
