According to the American Heart Association (AHA), the average survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is still only 10.6%. But, bystander CPR combined with effective defibrillator use more than triples the chance of survival.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate valid for two years. 

By the end of this seminar, you will be able to:

  • Recognize & treat a variety of adult emergencies prior to EMS arrival
  • Identify medical emergencies – cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke, seizures, low blood sugar, allergic reactions, and more
  • Manage injuries – internal & external bleeding, eye, mouth and nose injuries, sprains, broken bones, burns and more
  • Apply Adult CPR techniques (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • Use an AED (automated external defibrillator)
  • Identify the most common bloodborne diseases
  • Outline methods of protection against infection: universal precautions and PPE
  • Properly clean-up contaminated surfaces or equipment
  • Describe an effective exposure control plan
Federal Regulations State:
CFR 1910.1030(g)(2)(i) “The employer shall train each employee with occupational exposure … training must be provided at no cost to the employee and during working hours.”

CFR 1910.1030(g)(2)(i) “Employers shall ensure that all employees with occupational exposure participate in a training program which must be provided at no cost to the employee.”

Mark Simpson, a dedicated safety professional, has been with Cintas since 2004 and has 20 years of experience as an instructor. His passion for safety was ignited in 1988 when he witnessed a woman having a seizure at a mall and was dismayed by the indifference of bystanders. This pivotal event inspired Mark to become an instructor. His goal is to empower his students with the knowledge and confidence to take action in emergency situations.  Mark believes that simple, timely responses to medical or injury emergencies can significantly improve recovery outcomes. Mark holds several certifications, including:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor
  • Heartsaver AHA Instructor
  • OSHA Authorized Instructor - General Industry
  • MSA Competent Person for Fall Protection Inspection
  • Respiratory Train The Trainer
  • Forklift / Powered Industrial Truck Train The Trainer
  • Fire Safety / Fire Extinguisher Instructor
