AI: Risk & Potential Beyond the Hype

Date: Tuesday, April 28, 2026
Time: 4 PM to 6 PM
Venue: TBD
Location: TBD

Join us for this education session and happy hour focused on artificial intelligence. You’ll have the opportunity to network with fellow contractors while enjoying drinks and snacks, and participate in this engaging and informative session on AI.

Artificial Intelligence seems to be everywhere, from ChatGPT to Procore to Microsoft, and it’s creating new risks for contractors. In this session, SMACNA’s AI consultant Hugh Seaton will cut through the hype and talk about what is really a risk, and what really isn’t, and what you can do about it at the individual, team and company level.

In this no-nonsense session, you’ll learn how AI works, why that understanding will give you a sense of when to trust AI tools, and when not to, how to manage “shadow AI,” and some simple techniques to (mostly) avoid getting garbage from your chatbots and assistants.
