Contractors have certain responsibilities regarding the piping that they install as related to Code requirements and engineering specifications.  Senior management and project managers need to be aware of these requirements, how to ensure they are met and the consequences of not meeting them.

Instructor
Walter J. Sperko, P.E., is the President of Sperko Engineering Services, Inc., specializing in metal fabrication technology, including material selection, welding, heat treating, inspection, quality assurance, and failure analysis. With extensive experience in piping and pressure vessel fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair, he has worked for various companies such as EBASCO Services, Inc., ITT Grinnell Industrial Piping, and Richmond Engineering.
 
Mr. Sperko is actively involved in various ASME and AWS committees, including serving as past-Chairman of ASME Standards Committee IX Welding, Brazing, and Fusing Qualification, and a member of several subgroups. He has published numerous articles in trade magazines and holds a BA and BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states and holds five US patents.
