NCPWB-KC Chapter 7: Heart of America
The National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau (NCPWB) is a subsidiary of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA). MCA of Kansas City oversees the Heart of America – Chapter 7 of the NCPWB. The Heart of America NCPWB Chapter 7 was established in July 22, 1977. NCPWB was established to keep contractors informed about welding and brazing technology, and to simplify welding and brazing qualification practices.
8 Reasons to Join NCPWB
- Standardized Processes: Access NCPWB Weld Procedure Specifications (WPSs), crafted to ASME B31 Codes & matching the most common UA JPQTs, eliminating the need for contractors to create their own while ensuring compliance.
- Limit Liability: Reduce your exposure to legal and financial risks with NCPWB's proven compliance and safety protocols.
- Weld Transfers: ASME B31 Codes facilitate the interchange of welders, allowing contractors to accept qualifications and continuities from other NCPWB members.
- Cost Savings: NCPWB membership helps you avoid the high expenses associated with qualifying a welder and welding procedure independently.
- Process Optimization: NCPWB’s streamlined processes, comprehensive resources, and expert support optimize efficiency, allowing contractors to focus on core operations instead of time-consuming compliance tasks.
- Safety & Quality: NCPWB standardized processes ensure higher safety and quality among our membership workforce.
- Continuity Management: NCPWB tracks welder continuities and notifies contractors when a welder’s continuity will expire. This eases the burden on contractors to maintain continuity.
- National Database: NCPWB has a National Database. If you have a traveler or are doing work out of town, welder qualification records can be transferred across the U.S.
What Our Members Say
“In essence, partnering with NCPWB has significantly elevated our quality standards and operational efficiency. They are not just a service provider but a crucial ally in our commitment to delivering excellence in welding solutions. I wholeheartedly recommend NCPWB to any organization in need of top-tier welder qualification and continuity services.” -Nic Bidinger, Piping & process Manager at U.S. Engineering MX
“In almost 40 years of doing business, I’ve only had to produce welder qualifications on a few occasions. However, being an NCPWB contractor provides a wealth of approved welding procedures for virtually any welding process that can be encountered on any project. Additionally, being a NCPWB member helps ensure that my welders are fully qualified and limits my liability.” -Greg Stanger, President of Stanger Industries, Inc.
